Bangladesh won Bronze in WRO using JRC board

Bangladesh has competed for the first time by directly participating in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) 2022, one of the most prestigious robotics competitions held in Germany. In the Future Engineers category of this international competition, Team Lazy-Go won third place competing against 24 countries around the world. On the other hand, in the Future Innovators category, Robonium Bangladesh has secured the eighth position by competing with 32 countries. Organizers said the reason behind this achievement is the JRC board designed by Bangladesh, which is designed keeping in mind future robotics and IoT and which does not require separate WiFi and Bluetooth for communication. By using this board named after the late Professor Jamilur Reza Chowdhury (JRC), the prominent educationist of Bangladesh. Talking about this achievement of Bangladesh at the international level, Iqbal Samin Prithul, a member of Team Lazy-Go, said, "From making robots in Bangladesh to getting a German visa, we faced many difficulties, but today's award is the result of the cooperation of our university teachers, parents, national organizers and German expatriates.” About 1,300 competitors from 375 teams from 73 countries around the world participated in this international competition. In the three-day 24th edition of the Olympiad held in Dortmund, Germany, a total of four contestants from two teams of the country took part in the Olympiad. Team Lazy-Go members participated from Bangladesh are Iqbal Samin Prithul from Information and Communication Engineering Department of Bangladesh University of Professionals and Tausif Samin from Software Engineering Department of Islamic University of Technology. And in Team Robonium Bangladesh are Cantonment Public School and College, Rangpur secondary examinee Israfil Shaheen Aranya and Manipur High School and College ninth grader Mir Muhammad Abidul Haque. Redwan Ferdous was the team leader and Maherul Azam Qureshi was the deputy team leader of the participating teams from Bangladesh. It is to be noted that earlier in the last month of August, the 'World Robot Olympiad 2022 - Bangladesh's National Episode' was held at the Ahsanullah Science and Technology University in the capital. A two-day international team selection camp was held with the winners at the national level. Based on the success and performance of this camp, the team representing Bangladesh in 'World Robot Olympiad 2022' was selected. The organizers also said that the international winning Bangladesh team will come back home at 10 am Bangladesh time on November 23.
